2 Special Event ~ Halloween

Hey guys! It's 9:00 pm here. The boys are still up. Way past their bedtime. They're watching Nemo to settle down. I hope that you had a fabulous night with your Ghouls and Goblins!

Here they are as the Yip Yips from Sesame Street.

The black mesh is see through. I love when they hold hands. So cute!

3 Monster Bash Week ~ Monster Munch

It's the last day of Monster Bash Week!

Thanks for joining me in celebrating our twins' 3rd Birthday! Check out the Monster Decorations, Monster Food, Monster Tablescape, Monster Cakes and Monster Munch.

I combined a couple of popcorn recipes from Our Best Bites to create this Monster Munch.

Caramel Sauce
In a microwave safe dish I combined:
1 C brown sugar
1/4 C corn syrup
1/2 C margarine

I microwaved until they came to a boil and added:
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

While the butter mixture was in the microwave I made about 12 C of air popped popcorn. In the largest bowl I have I mixed the hot caramel sauce and popcorn. Then I added reece's pieces and peanuts. YUM!

I spread my mixture out on parchment paper and allowed it to harden.

A delicious addition to our Monster Party!

4 Monster Bash Week ~ Monster Cakes

Here is Cameron's monster cake.

I used modeling chocolate to cover the cakes. You can find my original recipe and test kitch here.

I took these photos so you can see how much of each colour I used. It took me two hours to decorate both monster cakes. I had baked the cakes and made the modelling chocolate earlier.

Okay so this was a delish combo. Vanilla cake. Vanilla icing. And raspberry pie filling. Y U M.

I'd like another scoop of that please.

Here's a cake all filled with yummy goodness. I covered them with vanilla icing then modelling chocolate.

Working with modeling chocolate is a lot like working with play dough. Fun.

5 Monster Bash Week ~ Tablescape and Inspiring Creativity Wednesdays

Welcome to our Monster Bash 3rd Birthday Party!

This is the third of 5 posts! Check out the Monster Decorations, Monster Food, Monster Tablescape and stay tuned for Monster Cakes and Monster Munch.

This was the first year that I had place settings for all of the children. The thing that they liked the best? The plastic knives. No kidding.

Monster dolls ~ $4 thrift store finds, green circle ~ retail signage, orange tablecloth ~ $2 at superstore, orange cups ~ $0.60 each at superstore, monster finger puppets ~ $ bins at Michaels and everything else was from the dollar store. A fun, fabulous monster table? Priceless.

Tissue paper pom poms and paper lanterns were hung from the chandelier.

I made name tags for all of the cups. The children took them home as part of their goodie bags.

2 Monster Bash Week ~ Food

Welcome to our 3rd Birthday Monster Bash Party!

This party was so big that we've had to give it it's own week!

Today is all about the food. Our main dishes were {MONSTER}: meatball sandwiches, brocoli soup, veggies & dip, crackers/meat/cheese, spinach dip, yogurt cupcakes, caramel popcorn and various chips, cookies and candy.

Colour coordinated food and dishes. Even the fruit punch. Not planned. Ha. Those are some mad skills.

Every food lable began with "monster".

We had a little guy at the party with special dietary considerations. No sugar ~ poor kid. These yogurt cupcakes were perfect, with add your own toppings.

8 Monster Bash Week ~ Decorations

Welcome to our Monster Bash 3rd Birthday Party!

I started planning and collecting decor for this party a year ago. Before the boys' turned two. Seriously. I bought their monster costumes last year. I'm an event coordinator... what can I say?

The Livingroom ~ the boys have horns. Yeah. Telling.

I painted "Lil' Monsters Training Academy" on our mirror. It'll wash off. I hope. The green circle is old retail signage with letters cut using my cricut.

The Candy Buffet. Featuring monster feet!

Colour coordinated candy. {Colour is spelled correctly ~ If I had Canadian spell check, it would tell you so :P}
