Okay so I totally didn't make it to Week 3.
But I LOVE how this project turned out!!
Thanks for following along!
Here are the details...

We had a budget of $5.
AND WERE NOT ALLOWED TO USE ANYTHING IN OUR CRAFTY STASH.
That's HARD!
I finally decided to make a rag wreath because I knew that I could purchase a wreath form for cheap. Then I went to the fabric store {thank goodness I have their loyalty card}. I hummed and hawed over all of the fabric and tried to figure out how much I would need and which fabrics would keep me under budget. I fell in love with this batik {gorgeous hey?} but it was somewhat over budget. I chatted with the nice lady at the cutting table and explained that I was in a competition with a strict budget. She said 'here, dear, we'll make it work'. And gave me 1 meter for the price of half a meter {in addition to my discount}. Score! I must remember to bring her a little something next time I'm at the fabric store.

I had to get a shot of the receipt just to prove what a deal it was! I tore all of my fabric into 1" by 12" strips. Then I tied them around my wreath form using a single knot {a double knot used too much precious fabric}. I made the little rosettes {my first time ~ I am no longer a fabric rosette virgin} and thought that I was pretty smart {lol} to poke knotted scraps of fabric into them to embellish. Another scrap served as a hanger. Oh but I wasn't done there...
Not submitted for the competition was this complementary White Wreath that I made. I actually went back to the fabric store to get more white fabric and used scraps of the blue for fabric rosette accents. I love the layered look of the two wreaths together! The white one is currently on the mirror in the dining room and the blue one outside on the front door. Our outside decor coordinates with the inside!!! YAY!!!
{Am I Type A or what?}
Thanks for voting and visiting!

Cute!!!
ReplyDeleteOh that's super cute. I love the fabrics! I did a Valentine's one out of fabric and was trying to decide if I thought it would look good for other seasons in other fabrics....answer: YES!!
