0 Dresser Makeover

If you have been following the conversation on facebook then you know that I have been redecorating the Pirate Ship room.  I have a few finishing touches to complete before I can share the big reveal.

I found this great little dresser at a thrift store for $10.  It's the perfect size to double as a side table / night stand and fits perfectly into the room.

It's amazing what a little paint and stain will do right?!
I saw that the dresser had 'good bones' and all of the drawers still slid in and out easily.  It's at least twenty years old I would say, made in a time when plywood furniture was sound and sturdy.
I stained the drawer fronts {the same colour as our floors actually} then applied a few coats of varathane.
The whole dresser was pretty banged up and I was worried that staining the drawers would reveal too much of this damage.  They turned out to look even better than my I expected!
I painted the rest of the dresser semi gloss white.  I sanded and primed all of the surfaces first and had little to no bleeding of the previous stain / colour.
I sanded and stained a few patches of the white paint to give the dresser a more distressed look.
I am really happy with the results and can't wait to show you the whole shebang!

Thanks for reading.
