Monsieur Moustache ~ rice heating and cooling pillow pattern

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Hey everyone!
I am so glad that you have stopped by.

Today I am sharing the very first project for our
One For The Boys ~ Holiday Edition
series.

 I am pleased to introduce you to Monsieur Moustache.

Dragonfly Designs

Monsieur is a friendly fellow who loves a good snuggle.

He is especially helpful when you have a bruise, bump, fever, owie or are just feeling a little under the weather.

Monsieur is filled with rice and can be kept in the freezer to be used as an ice pack or heated in the microwave for one minute and used as a heating pad.

To create your own Moustache Man you will need:

Two pieces of fabric cut out into the shape of a body {about 6" x 4"}
One piece of fabric cut into the shape of a face {about 3" x 2"}
One piece of fabric cut into the shape of a moustache.
Two buttons for eyes
Rice for filling
Miscellaneous sewing supplies

Step 1:  Sew the face onto the front of the body.  I used fleece so that I didn't have to serge the edges or fold them over because it doesn't fray.

Step 2:  Sew the moustache to the face.  I used cotton and left the edges raw to allow the moustache to fray a little.

Step 3:  Sew the button eyes onto the face.

Step 4:  With right sides facing, sew the front and back of the body together.  Leave one end of a leg open for inverting.

Step 5:  Invert and fill with about 1 cup of rice.

Step 6:  Sew the leg closed.  Done!

The boys and men in our lives deserve fun heating and cooling pillows too ~ don't ya think?
