This basic slouchy beanie pattern is super easy to follow and makes the comfiest beanie for kids! My favorite projects to crochet are ones that I make for my kids.

Too busy to make this right away?! Pin it for later! Pin this project to your favorite crochet board on Pinterest and it’ll be waiting for you when you’re ready.

Every time I go to a craft store, I am amazed at how many beautiful colors of yarn there are. I’m always looking for reasons to buy them all.

This slouchy crochet beanie is an ideal excuse! It’s the perfect addition to any winter wardrobe, especially if you’re having a bad hair day. It also uses less than a ball of yarn, making it economical too.

This simple slouchy beanie is a great project for those with beginner crochet skills. The pattern uses basic stitches and the stitch pattern is easy to follow. Grab my Learn to Crochet eBook for a great refresher course!

They are always so grateful and excited when they receive a new accessory from Mom. This free crochet pattern is beyond adorable too… I think that I should make one for all of the children in my life. Seriously cute and quick to make!

Free pattern variations:

  • To adjust the size of the body of the hat, start with more stitches in round 1. You could also add another increase round or two.
  • Use a single color for your beanie, or add stripes in different colors.
  • Want more slouch? Change the hat height by adding a few extra rounds.
  • Add a faux fur pom pom to the top of the hat. You can also make your own quick yarn pom pom.
  • Check out this crochet slipper pattern and this crochet monster hat pattern too.

Easy crochet tips and Tricks:

  • When choosing crochet projects, always check the skill level needed, to be sure it’s a good fit for you.
  • Crochet hook size can make a real difference in the size of your finished crochet items. If you tend to crochet quite tightly, it may be beneficial to go up a size. If your stitches tend to be loose, go down a size.
  • Only have worsted weight yarn, but the pattern calls for bulky yarn? No problem! Just use two strands, held together.
  • For easy washing, choose a cotton yarn for your slouchy hat patterns.

You’re going to want to make a bunch of these cute hats for the whole family. This stylish crochet slouch hat makes a great gift too. So pick up some of your favorite colors of yarn and get crocheting!
