Easy Crochet Headband Pattern

There is just something about the cold weather that has me wanting to crochet all the time! Sitting by the crackling fire with a cup of tea and a lap full of crochet – simply lovely!

Too busy to make this right away? Pin it for later! Pin this post to your favorite board on Pinterest and it will be there when you’re ready!

If you are looking for a quick, easy, and beautiful free crochet pattern, then look no further!

A headband is the perfect project for keeping your ears toasty on cold, winter days. It’s also the perfect stash buster, because it doesn’t use very much yarn, so you can make several in different colors!

This headband crochet pattern is a great project for those with beginner crochet skills. The easy pattern uses basic crochet stitches and the stitch pattern repeats.

This free simple crochet headband is one of my all-time favorite patterns and always sells well on etsy or at craft fairs. If you would like to make the flower embellishment as well, be sure to check out my crochet flower tutorial.

This quick project is just so cute! Perfect for this vintage-loving gal!

For this headband, I used Vanna’s Choice yarn, from Michaels, in Barley and Oatmeal. This is my absolute favorite yarn! It’s so soft and easy to work with.

I use this worsted yarn for most of my crocheting and have a skein of yarn in just about every color saved in my craft room!

Crochet headband variations:

  • This free pattern is for a basic adult size headband. Easily adjust the size by changing the stitch counts and amount of rows. You can also check out a headband size chart online, for more specific measurements.
  • Change the look of your headband by crocheting into only the back loop of each stitch.
  • Create a border around the sides of the headband using slip stitches. Or try something more decorative, like a shell stitch.
  • For a versatile summer crochet headband, use a lighter weight cotton yarn.

Tips and Tricks:

  • When choosing crochet projects, always check the skill level needed, to be sure it’s a good fit for you. Grab my Learn to Crochet eBook for a great refresher course!
  • Crochet hook size can make a real difference in the size of your finished crochet items. If you tend to crochet quite tightly, it may be beneficial to go up a size. If your stitches tend to be loose, go down a size.
  • For easy washing, choose cotton yarn. Try chunky yarn or bulky yarn for a different headband look.

Hello!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful pattern! I do have a question… I assume you are CH1 before your SC row? Also, does your CH2 count as your first DC of the row or do you start in the first stitch? Thanks again!
